What is Antifa?
There has been a great deal of civil unrest in the United States. In 2020, demonstrations across the country were organized by an activist movement called Antifa. The Antifa movement has been a powerful force in the United States and displayed its power when it recently took control of major segments of cities like Seattle and Washington DC as “Autonomous Zones”. These zones are “cop-free” and are being policed by Antifa organizations.
These demonstrations quickly turned into riots, burning thousands of police vehicles across the country in major US cities like New York, Atlanta, Chicago, and Los Angeles. These riots and how they are described in the media will only hurt officers in the long run and strengthen ANTIFAs mission.

WHAT IS ANTIFA?
Antifa is an anti-fascist political movement that is comprised of many autonomous groups and organizations that support anti-capitalist and anti-authoritarian views. With having no structural leadership it will make the organization very difficult to combat. Thus efforts to try and stop the organization will be difficult

WHEN WAS ANTIFA FOUNDED?
The Antifa political movement dates back to Europe in the 1960’s, while some organizations involved in the Antifa movement date back as early as the 1920’s.
WHAT IS ANTIFA'S GOAL?
Antifa is an anarchist movement that is currently demanding that police departments are defunded. According to Holly Rehder, “Make no mistake, their efforts to disband the police are so there will be no one left to stop them.” They have also planned an anti-government insurgency. Given how they describe the current system, it shows that they want to destroy the system to try and create one of their own.
WHO FUNDS ANTIFA?
According to Fox Business, “Little is known about who funds antifa activists, or how the groups get their resources. Antifa is not a single organization, and therefore, financial details, if any exist, are murky.”
IS ANTIFA DESIGNATED AS A DOMESTIC TERRORIST ORGANIZATION?
In 2020, Antifa demonstrations and riots lasted weeks and resulted in President Trump announcing that the federal government would be designating Antifa as a domestic terrorist organization. This designation helped “prioritize attention and federal resources on Antifa and encourage better coordination among law enforcement authorities.”
According to the FBI website, a domestic terrorism as criminal acts by indviduals or groups to further ones own agenda. We do see criminal acts of assault, rioting, looting, intimidation, and other means by ANTIFA. So by the FBIs own definition they are a domestic terrorist organization.
